MEET THE FOUNDER

"Whether a dress is simple or extravagant, we hold the power to view the complete ensemble—or, in a broader sense, the bigger picture of life—as something truly magical."
- Erika Kollist, Eravela Founder/Designer
I once believed our childhood sense of wonder, imagination, and sincere belief in magic was something inevitably lost with time. But I’ve come to realize it’s not something we lose; it’s something we can rediscover within ourselves.
As a child, I wholeheartedly believed in the mythical. Playing dress up and wearing costumes brought me endless joy, with Halloween as the highlight of my year. I would put on my costume, apply makeup, and style my hair. The moment everything came together was nothing short of enchanting—it was pure magic.
At the age of eight, I hand sewed my first dress. Made from an old bed sheet, and stitched together with a dull needle. It was far from a fairytale gown, but with its bodice and full-length circle skirt, I felt like a true princess the moment I put it on. That simple creation ignited my love for fashion design and sewing, opening a gateway to my imagination that has guided me ever since. Designing and bringing dresses to life gave me the same magical feeling I experienced every Halloween night—the thrill of transformation, the joy of creation, and the sense of stepping into something extraordinary. Each stitch brought my vision closer to reality, and every completed piece deepened my connection to the magic of self-expression. It was in these moments that I realized fashion wasn’t just about clothing—it was about creating something that could transport, inspire, and transform.
I found my earliest inspiration in the timeless elegance of fairytale characters I adored as a child. I was enthralled by their stories, their grace, and most of all, their dresses. Each gown felt like a portal to another world, a symbol of magic and possibility. I spent hours imagining myself in their shoes—or rather, their heels—dreaming up my own designs inspired by their enchanting wardrobes. Sometimes, I would even replicate their dresses exactly, finding immense joy in bringing their beauty to life. These early influences sparked my creativity and shaped my love for fashion, serving as the foundation for the designs I began creating as a young girl. Their sense of wonder and beauty continues to inspire my work to this day.
Even now, one of the most fulfilling and joyous experiences is watching one of my designs evolve from a simple idea in my mind to a tangible, wearable creation. It begins as a spark of inspiration, which I translate into a sketch, bringing the vision to life on paper. From there, it’s transformed into a professional technical drawing, meticulously detailed and precise. Finally, the design becomes a finished garment, the culmination of creativity, skill, and dedication. This journey—from concept to creation—is my absolute favorite part of what I do, as it continually reminds me of the magic in bringing dreams into reality and the boundless potential life has to offer.
These days, I seek that feeling of magic in everything I do. I love to create and experience moments that feel extraordinary. Whether a dress is simple or extravagant, we hold the power to view the complete ensemble—or, in a broader sense, the bigger picture of life—as something truly magical.
